Hyundai IONIQ: Going deeper in technology

More technical details revealed by Hyundai for the new IONIQ, which is the first global model that will be available with three different drive systems.

Hyundai IONIQ will, therefore, offer as a purely electric, and hybrid and plug-in hybrid, while construction is done on a new platform that can support all three drives. The body is made of 53% steel ultra high strength, while aluminum is made the bonnet, tailgate and suspension components, thus erased by the scale 12.6 kg. The placement of lithium ion batteries and low forward achieves a low center of gravity. Alongside double bottom has multi-link suspension arm mounted on the back.

The internal combustion engine is the new Kappa GDi with power 105 horsepower and 15.0 kg. torque, which achieves the thermal efficiency of 40%, while coupled with the drive of 43,5 hp with a torque of 17.3 kg. The head and the block divided for optimized cooling while the injector direct injection six holes in the high pressure of 200 bars further improve fuel consumption and reduce C02 emissions. It works with a dual clutch transmission (DCT) 6 speeds, exclusively designed for the hybrid drive, which minimizes the transmission loss, providing 95.7% of the power from the engine to the wheels. The official premiere of the Hyundai IONIQ is held in March at the Geneva show.
