Mercedes: New factory to produce lithium-ion batteries

Already, Mercedes has bought a large plot of land next to the existing factory engaged in the manufacture of batteries, which is located in Kamenz, Germany. The construction works of the new plant will begin in autumn 2016 and is expected to be completed in spring 2017 and summer of the same year will be operational. The lithium-ion batteries will also be placed in electric models of Smart. We observe that the automakers pay particular attention to electric models, as they are a clean solution to the increasingly strict emissions standards while reducing the cost of ownership.
